Bahrain has welcomed the election of the brotherly State of Kuwait to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2018 – 2019, after securing 188 votes out of 192 in the elections held by the UN General Assembly.
“The Kingdom regards such achievement as reflective of the incessant efforts and initiatives of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to enhance cooperation between the world countries and maintain international peace and security,” a statement by the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain extends its sincere congratulations to the brotherly State of Kuwait, affirming that this victory will advance the efforts aiming to reinforce peace and stability in the region and help reach comprehensive and just solutions to the Arab and Islamic causes, given Kuwait’s regional and international reputation. The Kingdom of Bahrain also wishes Kuwait further progress and prosperity and more international achievements.”
