Bahrain arrests suspects in Karbabad attacks

Bahrain's security authorities arrested a number of people suspected of having links with the attacks that took place on Saturday north of Manama, killing a policeman and injuring two others.
Interior Minister of Bahrain Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa on Sunday chaired a meeting with senior Interior Ministry officers in order to be briefed on the latest security situation and the results of the investigation into the terrorist attack in Karbabad village. The case has so far resulted in the arrest of a number of suspects, according to Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
The Minister stressed that anyone who incites violence will be held accountable by law. He stated that 17 policemen have been killed since 2011 and that he hopes everyone involved in these crimes will be brought to justice.
He said the most recent terrorist attack in Karbabad was the result of incitement from both inside and outside of Bahrain and reminded parents to protect their children from incitement online.
He asserted that police personnel are legally authorised to use force against anyone who jeopardises the lives of police officers or the security of the nation, and that the role of police is to protect general order. He stressed the importance of justice in terrorist cases to protect security and punish those responsible from committing such attacks.
