Al Azhar Undersecretary Abbas Shoman met on Wednesday with a delegation of cadets at the the Command and Staff College within the framework of cooperation between Al Azhar and the college.
We feel safe and secure in Egypt thanks to the Armed Forces and the development they achieve day by day, he said.
Shoman added that Egypt's army managed in the past to repel military aggressions and end occupation of Egyptian lands. Similarly nowadays, he noted, the army is standing up to conspiracies and plots planned against the country.
Separately, Shoman stressed that Al Azhar is an educational, religious institution that is meant to spread peace and love among people and to establish the culture of dialogue and values of citizenship.
Al Azhar also confronts destructive thoughts that are targeted on the youth and rectifies misconceptions about Islam that are promoted by the groups of violence and terrorism, he indicated.
Islam, he said, has nothing to do with the terrorist acts that are committed under guise of Islam cloak.
