Cairo - Arab Today
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit urged his representative in Libya Salah Eddine Jamali to intensify the pan-Arab organization's efforts to end the Libyan stalemate.
Abul Gheit urged Jamali to step up efforts to get all Libyan parties to cling to the political process ad reach consensus on needed measures to put into effect the Libyan political agreement.
Abul Gheit made the remarks during his meeting with Jamali in Tunisia, the AL general secretariat said in a statement on Saturday.
Abul Gheit stressed the AL's full support to all efforts meant to realize national reconciliation in Libya, expressing concerns about the armed conflicts in Tripoli.
Abul Gheit called for rallying Arab, regional and international efforts to end the Libyan crisis through peaceful means away from foreign interference.
He underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation among the AL, the African Union and the United Nations to facilitate the implementation of the Libyan political agreement.
Jamali – who assumed his post as the AL chief representative in Libya on November 10 - posted Abul Gheit on his plan in the coming period.
