Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) as part of its corporate social responsibility, marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by sponsoring and partnering with Bahrain’s General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science in many anti-drug related activities.
Alba was recognised for its supportive role at a ceremony that was held under the patronage of Bahrain’s Interior Minister, Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa on June 21.
Commenting on the support, Alba’s Chief Financial Officer Ali Al Baqali said:
“Drug abuse is an epidemic facing many countries in the world today and requires major commitment from corporate and social institutions to control it. Alba believes in supporting and fostering the efforts that are aimed at community welfare. We are much proud to back the activities for the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as it will play a major role in highlighting the dangers of drugs and prevent its spread.”
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was introduced in Bahrain on 7 December 1987 based on UN resolution 42/112, and the Ministry of Interior has been observing it as part of its efforts in combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
