At least 43 Egyptians were killed and hundreds wounded in violence that engulfed the country on Friday, mostly involving clashes between loyalist and opponents of ousted President Mohammad Morsi, almost doubling the death toll since last Sunday to 90 people. The Health Ministry said 15 people were killed in clashes across capital Cairo, including skirmishes near the state broadcaster\'s building in the vicinity of the iconic Tahrir Square. Seventeen people were killed in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria in clashes between supporters and opponents of Morsi. According to figures by the Health Ministry clashes left four dead in Ismailia and one in Suez in the northeast of Cairo. At least five police and army personnel were killed in separate attacks by unidentified gunmen in the North Sinai Governorate on Friday. Also, one person was killed in the Upper Egypt city of Assiut, about 300 km (186 miles) south of Cairo, in clashes between supporters of Morsi and police outside the governorate headquarters in the city. Tens of thousands of Morsi loyalists have taken to the streets in Cairo and other governorates to protest his overthrow, demanding his reinstatement.
