The holy month of Ramadan is past us and offices have resumed their usual 9-hour work timings. While it is understandable to be hungover from the extended long weekend, it is the month of Ramadan that you might be actually missing.
You are suffering from the withdrawal symptoms of Ramadan if:
1. You forget to eat lunch
Yes, this is the most common symptom! Used to not eating anything through the day until sunset, you forget to eat lunch in the initial days. You might not realise its lunch time unless you see empty desks around.
2. In your mind, it's still a 6-hour shift
Most offices in Dubai, reduce their working hours to six during Ramadan for their employees and you get used to the happy hours. The first week after Ramadan is the toughest as you keep staring at the watch to complete your nine-hour shift.
3. You miss the empty office and roads
With only 6 hours to clock in for 25 days, you get used to the flexibility of walking in the office at a time comfortable to you. You also tend to time yourself according to the low traffic hours. Barring the hours closer to iftar, it is an unbelievable smooth ride in Dubai and you want it for 365 days!
4. You no longer want to eat Biryani
You have had so much Biryani in the past month that you can't bear the smell of the spices anymore. During iftar, biryani is the hot seller and you end up eating it in office, and with relatives and friends. Biryani, we seriously need a break.
5. You miss the iftar hangouts
You might be busy through the year but Ramadan is the month you make time for your friends and family to enjoy iftars together. With the month over, you miss the get-togethers and the variety of food you try every evening. Not to forget, the untimely hunger pangs.
