Port police seized 42 unregistered water scooters and four boats on Umm Suqeim, Jebel Ali and Mamzar beaches as part of a campaign to protect beachgoers. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Mazyoud, Acting Director of Ports Police Station, said a team was set up to seize the scooters, which pose a risk to swimmers and beachgoers. The team instructed scooter owners to take them to sea only in permitted locations in line with Order No3 for 2008 on using and licensing water scooters, issued by the Dubai Executive Council. Owners were instructed to register their water scooters, and use safety gear and life jackes. Youngsters are not allowed drive the scooters without adult supervision. Water scooters are also banned at night or near ports and sea projects. Lt Col Al Mazyoud said Dubai Police was keen to enhance the safety and security of beachgoers and combat any violation that may jeapordise people\'s safety and cause accidents.
