Cairo - MENA
Three people were killed early Tuesday in armed clashes in Cairo neighborhood of Shoubra, the Health Ministry said. Earlier in the day, Major General Ahmed Helmi said a group of people were playing a football match at Shoubra preparatory school and, suddenly, two players - who have been already at odds - engaged in a fight. One of them hit the other by a light weapon, killing him on the spot. The family of the victim massed outside the assailant's house. The families of both sides traded bullets and molotov cocktails. Several shops and cars were damaged during the confrontations, he added. The family of the first victim filed a report against the son of Lazem Hazem group founder, Sheikh Gamal Saber, accusing him of killing their son, he said. The clashes were contained after fanning out security forces in the area, he said, adding that efforts are underway to bust suspects in the case. On Monday, two Shoubra families engaged in clashes with fire weapons and molotov cocktails, causing panic among people. Security forces arrived to end the state of street fights in the busy Cairo neighborhood.
