Prosecutor General Talaat Abdullah ordered to refer two defendants in the tragic train-bus crash, which took place in Manfalout in Assiut Governorate on November 17, to the Court of Misdemeanors. The railway safety barrier worker and train dispatcher are accused of many charges including gross negligence and manslaughter. Over 50 children, most of them from Mandara village near the city of Manfalut in Assiut Governorate, were killed and 16 others injured when their school bus was hit by a train while crossing railroad tracks.
