A woman and one of the Diyala governor Omar Humairi’s bodyguard were killed when a suicide bomber detonated a car loaded with explosive Saturday morning near the main gate of the governor’s house in New Baquba district central Baquba, east of Iraq. A police source told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the blast also wounded three people, including an officer of Diyala traffic police, and damaged a number of cars. Meanwhile, two civilians were killed when a homemade explosive device exploded this morning north of Tikrit. A police source in Salahuddin province said that an improvised explosive device explodedon two civilians, suspected that they were trying to plant it near the presidential palaces on Makhoul Mount, North Baiji, north of Tikrit, resulting in their deaths on the spot. Also Saturday, two policemen were killed in shootings by gunmen west of Mosul. Police source in Nineveh told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that two policemen were killed when gunmen opened fire on them in Tammooz area west of Mosul. He added that the policemen were on duty in one of the polling stations, and the gunmen opened fire on them and fled to an unknown destination.
