Bracing itself for Eid Al Adha, the Dubai Police have deployed 16 police patrols in tourist areas and shopping malls - including Dubai Mall and Mall of Emirates.
During a meeting attended by Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, the preparations for Eid Al Adha were discussed.
Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al Marri stressed that the committee was ready to greet Eid Al Adha with a plan of action for all public departments and police stations. The plan seeks to intensify patrols in internal roads and highways of Dubai. He pointed out that Dubai Police have developed plans to enhance police presence in order to provide comfort and convenience to citizens, residents and visitors.
Appealing everyone to abide by the guidelines and regulations, he called on the road-users to exercise caution while driving to avoid traffic accidents and desist from committing dangerous violations like speeding and reckless overtaking.
The members of the committee discussed recommendations for Eid Al Adha celebrations and reviewed the security plans to be implemented during the holidays.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director-general of traffic department at Dubai Police, reviewed the traffic plan and explained using of alternative routes in crowded locations.
Abdullah Al Yazidi briefed about the traffic plan of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). He explained that 30 guide plates have been put in place to guide the public to reach shopping malls and events areas while controlling the traffic lights on the Financial Center street. He said that the number of taxis in the city has been increased by 5 per cent. The Metro timings have also been extended to 2am.
