Frank Warren has accused the British Boxing Board of Control of ‘hypocrisy’. Promoter Warren hit out after the Luxembourg Prime Minister was contacted in a bid to ban the fight Britain wants to see. Warren, who manages Dereck Chisora, hit out after it was claimed the Board had involved the Luxembourg PM in an attempt to derail the Sun-sponsored showdown with David Haye at Upton Park on July 14. Bruce Baker, the Luxembourg Boxing Federation’s man in England, said: “I’ve been told the Board here in England wrote to their counterparts in Germany. “It then went to the German Sports Minister who contacted the Luxembourg PM Jean-Claude Juncker.” The BBBC withdrew Chisora’s fight licence for his part in the row with Haye after fighting Vitali Klitschko in February. Haye handed his licence back following the defeat against Wladimir Klitschko last July. And Warren said: “The Board are threatening to withdraw membership to anyone involved in the bout but that smacks of unbelievable hypocrisy. “When Yank Julian Jackson was virtually blind in one eye ahead of his bout with Herol Graham the Board wouldn’t allow it to take place in this country. It was eventually staged in Spain. “Did the Board try to revoke anyone’s membership or licence? No!”
