The army and popular forces killed and wounded 83 of Sudanese soldiers paid by Saudi in Midi desert near the Red Sea coast in a fierce battle late on Monday, a military official told Saba on Tuesday.

The killed foreign mercenaries included four senior officers.

Dozens of the mercenary bodies were still lying at the scene near Saudi border.
