Head of the military council in Taiz governorate, Yemen said that eleven Houthi militants were killed in strikes launched by the Saudi-led coalition on Friday.
Sarhan said the Yemeni army and armed resistance are determined to free the city from Houthis and militants loyal to ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
At least 17 other militants were injured in the clashes while three weapon cashes were exploded.
On the other sides, five soldiers were killed while 13 others were injured, he said, adding, five civilians were reported killed in attacks by Houthis on residential places.
In a daily report on the operations, Sarhan added that the armed forces loyal to the legitimate government engaged the militias in el Zanoug neighborhood.
The neighborhood was being hit from air and by artillery shelling overnight, he said.
The artillery forces target other sites under Houthi control in the western part of the city, he added.
