Aden Governor Jaafar Mohammed Saad was killed in a booby-trapped car explosion, Head of Aden Security Directorate Mosaed Mesaed told SABA on Sunday.

The governor's car blew out near communications center headquarters in Tawahi area of Aden while he was en route to his work.

Several members of Saad's entourage were also killed in the attack, Mosaed further said.

Saad was appointed as Aden's governor by Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi last month.
