Pentagon confirms death of senior Qaeda leader Faruq al Qatani in Afghanistan

US airstrike ANNIHILATES top al-Qaeda terror leader A US drone strike has killed senior al-Qaeda leader Faruq al-Qatani, the Pentagon has confirmed.

The US confirmed on Friday that a "precision strike" conducted on October 23 in Kunar province in Afghanistan, resulted in the death of a senior al Qaeda leader. 

Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement that Faruq al Qatani was among the leaders who plotted attacks against the US. 

He was "alQaeda's emir for eastern Afghanistan", Cook added.
