Afghan officials announced that dozens of people were killed in a massive landslide in the northeast of the country.

The landslide buried homes and damaged farms.

At least 52 people were killed in the landslide that occurred in the Khawahan district in the northeastern province of Badakhshan including 25 women, 22 children.

About 100 houses were destroyed. Rescue teams rushed to the stricken area.
