attacker killed

An attack on the international airport of the Afghan capital Kabul ended with killing of four attackers on Thursday, said Ministry of Interior.
The Interior Ministry spokesman, Sadique Sadiqi told media that the attack, launched early in the morning, lasted for at least five hours killing all four attackers.
Deputy Interior Minister Gen. Ayoub Salangi said that police killed three of the assailants and the fourth one detonated his explosives.
A group of insurgents entered an under-construction building in Qasaba area from where they were firing on the airport. The armed assault concluded and security personnel were combing the building to ensure there was no insurgent left, said Salangi.
Police chief, Gen. Mohammad Zahir Zahir said the insurgents failed to cause heavy damage to the airport, and added that three police officers have been injured in the attack. However, flight operations were halted during the attack.
According to local media reports, Taliban rebels have claimed the responsibility for the attack by saying that a group of fighters armed with heavy and light weapons stormed Kabul Airport, inflicting heavy casualties on security forces.
