Afghans killed in coalition air strike

An Afghan official said at least three people have been killed in an air strike by US-led coalition forces but villagers in the remote area dispute the official version, saying the dead are civilians who were protecting their land from nomads, FOX News reported on Friday.
Din Mohammad Darwesh, spokesman for the governor of Logar province, said a delegation has been sent to find out exactly what happened in Baraki Barak district Friday morning.
He saidvthat the US-led coalition has told the governor's officers that the dead, and another five who were wounded, were Taliban insurgents.
But residents said they were local civilians protecting their land from attack by nomadic Kuchi people.
Logar, in eastern Afghanistan, has seen security deteriorate in recent months, and the Kuchi nomads have a reputation for violence.
