At least five suspected militants who wanted to carry out coordinated suicide bomb blasts in the Afghan capital Kabul were killed in a pre-dawn gunbattle, according to Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate for Security (NDS) officials. A spokesman for the NDS Lotfullah Mashal said two more insurgents were still resisting the Afghan security forces from a house. In the meantime, NATO-led International Security Assistance Force also confirmed the reports, however they did not disclose further information regarding the incident, Afghan online newspaper (Khaama Press) reported Thursday. Lotfullah Mashal said the group of suspected suicide bombers were armed with suicide vests, RPGS and heavy machine guns and were looking to seize a building in Shahr-e-Naw town in capital Kabul. In the meantime Gen. Daud Amin Deputy security chief for capital Kabul said the clashes were over between Afghan security forces and all the militants were killed.
