Afghan security forces

The Afghan security forces managed to end the Taliban siege of a governmental compound in Greshk district of southern Helmand province by killing all 10 suicide bombers.

    The siege was ended after two days of resistance by the militants but the local officials said the Afghan forces carefully conducted the clearance operation to prevent civilian casualties and damages to the neighboring properties.

    The district administrative chief Mohammad Sharif confirmed the siege was ended in the early hours of Friday morning after the Afghan forces eliminated all the assailants.

    Meanwhile, the district police chief, Mohammad Ismail, said the attack was launched by a group of ten suicide bombers who were all killed during the gun battle with the Afghan forces.

    He said four security personnel lost their lives and nine others were wounded but another security official said four policemen and a soldier were killed in the attack and 12 others were wounded.
