A roadside bomb blast in Helmand province, Afghanistan, killed five members of a single family, police said. Khanashin district chief Shah Mahmood Mir told Khaama Press the blast took place Monday evening. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack though Taliban militants have a history of using improvised explosive devices to target Afghan and coalition forces in the area, Khaama Press reported Tuesday. A U.N. report in February said roadside bombs were the single largest killer of Afghan civilians in 2012, with 868 deaths and 1,663 injuries.
