Turkey has called for an urgent meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the famine in Somalia and neighbouring countries. This came as Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters today Friday that OIC could meet either in Istanbul or in JEddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss the situation in famine- and drought-stricken Somalia. Ahmet Davutoglu said he had submitted a special request to OIC Secretary General Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in this regard.
