Lebanese President Michel Suleiman held closed-door talks with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, who arrived in Beirut on Tuesday in an effort to obtain Lebanon''s support for its bid for statehood at the United Nations. Lebanon is to assume the presidency of the UN Security Council in September. Sources said Abbas'' two-day visit to Lebanon would also tackle the issue of Palestinian camps and the improvement of the conditions of refugees.
