Paris - Arab Today
Saudi Arabian and French officials and experts have discussed means to dry out funding of terrorism and militarily fight the latter especially in its strongholds of Iraq and Syria.
The discussions were held at a seminar organized in Paris. The seminar was divided into three sessions which focused on addressing political Islam, terrorism and means of funding and the challenges posed by what is known as “militants extremism.”
Michel Duclos, Managing Director of the International Diplomatic Academy, said France and Saudi Arabia confront the same challenges due to terrorism and so-called “militants,” adding that the two countries were working together to devise ways to address terrorism and its motives and are seeking to clarify wrong concepts.
Duclos said that Saudi Arabia talked about its experience of counseling those who have been deceived by extremists. The participants also discussed the causes of extremism and how it spreads in Saudi Arabia and France, especially amid all these economic, political and social transformations and the role of media and social media outlets.
During the concluding session, the participants agreed to use modern digital tools, redouble security cooperation and coordination between the two countries and continue to exchange expertise to combat terrorism.
