The King Sejong Institute for Korean Language Courses

The King Sejong Institute for Korean Language Courses opened its doors officially at the University of Bahrain.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by UoB Vice President for Academic Programmes and Postgraduate Studies Professor Waheeb Isa Al-Nasser, South Korean Ambassador to Bahrain Koo Hyun-mo, Foreign Ministry Assistant-Undersecretary for Arab and Afro-Asian Affairs and Organisations Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al-Khalifa and other guests and King Sejong Institute teachers and students.

The University of Bahrain and the South Korean Embassy signed a memorandum of understanding last June to establish the King Sejong Institute, which aims at consolidating relations between the university and the South Korea and open a gateway for students to discover the South Korean culture.

Forty students affiliate at different UoB colleges have already enrolled at Korean language course at the King Sejong Institute.

Dr. Al-Nasser stressed the importance of studying languages as a gateway to promote cooperation and partnership between peoples and transfer knowledge and exchange expertise.

Assistant-Undersecretary for Arab and Afro-Asian Affairs and Organisations Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al-Khalifa hailed the opening of the institute which, she said, reflects steadily-growing relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of South Korea.

South Korean Ambassador to Bahrain Koo Hyun-mo expressed his delight at the first batch of students who enrolled at the King Sejong Institute.
