Minister of Transport, Jamil Mujahid, Sunday announced that a JD3.5 million historical museum project will start next week at the Jordan Hejaz Railway Corporation with support from the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA).

He spoke during a meeting with Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Ahmet Arslan, to discuss issues pertaining to transportation between the two countries, including inking a number of agreements and forming joint committees to periodically tackle transport affairs.

Mujahid said the two countries are continuing to work according to previously signed agreements and activating new ones in all transport domains, besides seeking alternatives to enhance trade between the two countries and raising tourist trips between Turkish ports and the port of Aqaba.

For his part, the Turkish minister pointed to his country as Jordan’s gate to Balkan countries and the European Union, and Jordan’s location as Turkey’s gateway to Gulf countries and Africa.

He said Turkey also recognised Jordan’s position in opposing the coup attempt, which took place in the country last year, and also said Ankara supports the Hashemite’s custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem.
