Germany has announced that it’s extending a 97.4-million-Euro grant to Jordan to help carry out a number of development-oriented projects in the Kingdom as part of a pledge the European nation made at a recent donors conference in Brussels, Belgium, according to Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury.
The minister said the German government is mulling extending sectorial support to the general budget in light of current pressures. The minister spoke as he met with Director of the Middle East Unit at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Germany, Christine Toetzke.
Fakhouri thanked the German government for its continued support to Jordan to address challenges arising from the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on the various economic sectors.
The minister said Jordan hopes the international community fulfill its commitments towards the Kingdom to boost its resilience against exceptional and unprecedented circumstances the region is passing through.
The German official pledged her country’s support to Jordan and refugee-hosting communities to enable the Kingdom to shoulder the consequences of the Syrian refugee crisis.
