Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, Saudi Minister

Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, Saudi Minister of Culture and Information, has stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen to support all means of curbing terrorism, eradicating it, and cutting off its financing altogether.
On a three-day visit to Germany, Al-Awwad met several German officials of the parliament, presidency affairs and national security. He also met the German foreign minister, vice speaker of the German Parliament, and officials of the national security apparatus, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
"The stance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries with regard to the severing of relations with the State of Qatar attained substantial understanding from the German officials. This was following the presentation of information proving Qatar's involvement in funding terrorism and extremism, its support and sponsorship of prominent figures, and the use of Al-Jazeera as a media platform that promotes violence and terrorists," Al-Awwad said.
He added that through its programmes and interviews, as well as special coverages, Al-Jazeera Channel describes these terrorists as heroes and leaders inciting terrorist operations. He pointed out that it broadcast documentaries praising the New York bombers of 11th September, portraying them as great heroes when, in fact, they were murderers and criminals who shed blood and destroyed property and lives with no mercy.
"Although Al-Jazeera fulminates slogans such as ‘freedom of expression’ and ‘opinion vs. another opinion,’ it actually uses these as devices to pass Qatar's agenda in spreading violence, extremism and interference in states' internal affairs. It misrepresents facts and falsifies events in line with its criminal plans against human life, security, and stability in the region," Al-Awwad confirmed.
"Qatar sought to mislead public opinion in order to cover its criminal activities for many years. It uses money to win the cases deceitfully, as it did in hosting the 2022 World Cup, but it will never be able to deceive anymore after having its evil intentions exposed to the world in supporting and sponsoring terrorism.
"Qatar must reconsider its positions in supporting terrorism and taking the right path to contribute to protecting global security. Therefore, Qatar must extradite criminals and stop the flow of financial support to individuals and institutions included in terrorist lists," Al-Awwad said.
"Following the meeting with Deputy Speaker of Parliament Claudia Roth and after providing her with information that proves Qatar's involvement in supporting terrorism, she found similarities to Qatar's corruptive approach. This was revealed through the use of money to buy consciences and falsify facts to win the bidding for the FIFA World Cup in 2022. She protested that Qatar shouldn’t be allowed to host the event because of its corruption, sponsorship of terrorism, and endangering of security and international stability," he added.
Al-Awwad pointed out that Qatar, in collaboration with Iran, worked to fabricate information by playing the victim and disseminating false information provided by Iranian Minister Jawad Zarif. He also said that his visit to Germany sought to reveal the facts supported by concrete incontrovertible evidence that categorically convicts Qatar of financing and supporting terrorism.
He concluded that the German Foreign Minister will visit the Kingdom soon to confirm co-operation between the two countries.
