Beirut - Nna
Lebanese Forces leader, Dr. Samir Geagea, said during a press conference held Saturday that the STL went beyond punishing murderers of Rafik Hariri into setting the kind of Lebanon protestors of Cedar Revolution aspired for. "There is correlation between [assassination of Rafik Hariri] and murder of Ramzi Irany, Mufti Sheikh Hassan Khaled, Bachir Gemayel, and Kamal Jumblatt," said Geagea, who added that Cedar Revolution protestors struggled for the establishment of the STL as a road for salvation from the "other Lebanon," which Geagea refused to accept, adding that every Lebanese was involved in the STL. Forces opposing the STL, mainly Hezbollah and their allies, stated that the indictment was based entirely on circumstantial evidence and telecom sources which were infiltrated by Israeli intelligence. Geagea negated these claims, stating that "the indictment is based on evidence, documents and witness accounts...Israel can tap someone's phone but it can't manipulate telecom data... Had it been able to control the telecom sector it would have protected its agents."
