Twenty two prisoners escaped on Friday evening, from the Gafsa civil prison, after confrontations between several detainees and guards. A guard was injured in his hand and another in various parts of his body with a knife. The latter is kept in a critical state in one of the hospitals in Gafsa. The group escape took place after troubles caused by prisoners, who attacked the guards and stole the keys of the prison's external gates, according to sources of the Gafsa civil prison. Patrols of the prison, the security and National Army forces and the National Guard combed the area surrounding El Ksar prison in the other towns of Gafsa. Four prisoners were caught, and the others are still on the run. This operation is the second of its kind. Last April 29, 300 prisoners had also escaped from this prison.
