The Federal National Council (FNC) re-elected during its first procedural second ordinary session of the 16th Legislative Chapter of the FNC on Sunday, two observers and members of standing committees.
The session was by chaired by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the FNC, and attended by Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.
Jassim Al Naqbi and Khalifa Al Mazrouei, were re-elected as observers, as per article 84 of the constitution. The FNC also formed its standing committees, which included the constitutional; legislative and appeals affairs; defence, interior and foreign affairs; financial, economic and industrial affairs; technical, energy and mineral resources affairs; education, culture, youth, sports and media affairs; health and environmental affairs; social, labour, population, human resources affairs; and Islamic, Awqaf, Public Utilities, complaints, and human rights affairs.
At the outset of the session, Dr. Al Qubaisi noted, "The FNC is honoured today with the directive of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on tasking Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to open the second ordinary session of the 16th Legislative Chapter of the FNC."
She stressed that the opening of this session comes as the people of the UAE celebrate the Flag Day, under which they unite and pledge to work for the advancement of the nation. "Under the banner of the Union, we pledge to meet the expectations of our leadership and people through assuming responsibility," Dr. Al Qubaisi said.
The FNC Speaker thanked members and staff of the FNC for their efforts and achievements during the first ordinary session, most notably, their contribution to preparation of the first strategy of the FNC.
Al Kaabi commended the importance of the strategy launched by the FNC, saying it reflects the keenness of the legislative body to exercise its constitutional role. She thanked the team for the mission accomplished.
