Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman al-Safadi on Tuesday discussed with his Spanish counterpart Alfonso Dastis ways to cement Jordanian-Spanish ties and the latest developments in the Middle East.
Both ministers agreed to intensify contact and communication to enhance economic cooperation and build partnerships between the private sectors in both countries.
They also tackled efforts to break the deadlock in peacemaking between the Palestinian and Israelis. In this context, Al-Safadi stressed that the two-state solution is the only way to guarantee freedom and statehood to the Palestinian people and peace and security to Israel.
The meeting, held ahead of an international conference on racial and religious violence in the Middle East, touched on the Syrian crisis and its humanitarian repercussions.
Al-Safadi said Jordan holds major burdens arising from the Syrian refugee crisis and this requires adequate international community support.
