Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies

Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, stressed that it is everyone’s current duty to stay united and think together towards finding solutions to end the conflicts and wars taking place in the world.
In a speech during a meeting of world religious leaders, organised by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, on the role of religions in making peace and how to stop religions from fuelling wars and conflicts, he highlighted the importance of clergymen in presenting and clarifying correct religious concepts and interpretations without changing or misleading their messages.
The meeting was attended by a hundred religious leaders from Europe, the Far East, the Middle East and North and West Africa.
Under the framework of discussing successful models and exchanging experiences, Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah presented some of the forum’s initiatives that emphasised the historic Marrakech Declaration issued by the forum, with the participation of many Muslim scholars and the presence of representatives of all religious minorities in the Islamic world, to present the correct Islamic vision of citizenship based on co-existence and not exclusively on religion.
Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah also spoke about the new aspects of the 'Hilf Al Fudul' initiative that was launched by the forum in Abu Dhabi, the capital of tolerance and coexistence, at the beginning of May 2017, when it welcomed the first US peace convoy that included several religions and many Muslim, Christian and Jewish clerics from 10 US states. "The initiative aims to draft a plan to combine their energies and place the foundations of religious unity, as the only way to achieve world peace is to make peace between religions," he added.
At the end of his speech, he condemned the recent bombing in Manchester saying that these actions are rejected by all religions, while stressing that terrorism poses a challenge to all the lovers of peace, obliging them to work together to place comprehensive plans to eliminate terrorism.
