The General Command of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior, represented by the heads of general departments of civil defence in the UAE, participated in an international programme on major events management, under the supervision of the London Fire Department.
The international gathering aims to encourage the exchange of views, experiences and the best applied practices to enrich and promote the skills and competence of civil defence workers, enabling them to address challenges, while being trained to improve their work, and achieving both excellence and leadership skills.
Major General Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouqi, General Commander of Civil Defence, said that their directors-general participated in this programme to implement the directives of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, who stressed the importance of enhancing the skills of staff through the best training programmes, to promote their efforts in prevention and safety, and to combat risks and potential challenges.
He highlighted the importance of experiencing the best international practices in fire fighting and accident management, and enhancing the skills of civil defence leadership in cases of crises and urgent disasters, while stressing that the UAE Civil Defence is prepared to confront challenges and address emergencies.
The programme included training on the best practices to communicate and cooperate with relevant authorities during an emergency through simulation and training exercises on how to take proactive action during and after an event, as well as the best ways to address the media and social media outlets.
