A teenage British tourist was stabbed to death by a taxi driver Wednesday on the Greek island of Zante and four of his friends were wounded, police said. The suspect, a local 21-year-old taxi driver, and his accomplice, 25, were arrested after the killing which took place early in the morning in front of a fast food restaurant, a statement said. The victim died of knife wounds to the heart while his friends were hospitalised with non-life threatening wounds to the back and stomach, a police source said. The preliminary investigation found that a row erupted after the taxi driver and his friend accused the group of Brits of blinding them with a laser pointer. The incident took place in Zante\'s main resort of Laganas, where tens of thousands of teenage British tourists flock every summer to enjoy the Ionian island\'s pleasant weather and cheap alcohol. Incidents are frequent in Laganas, where the antics of young British tourists on \"non-stop party\" tour operator packages have provoked growing criticism from the Greek authorities and local residents.
