Gunmen killed a government prosecutor in the turbulent south of Afghanistan on Sunday, Afghan officials said. Helmand province attorney general Khushahal Shapa said that two gunmen on motorcycles shot the chief prosecutor for Gereshk district early Sunday while he was leaving his house for work. Mohammad Azam oversaw all prosecutions for the volatile district. The Helmand governor''s office said in a statement the attackers fled and that security forces are searching for them.
