Nine illegal immigrants including two children died in a car accident in northeastern Greece Monday in which four others people were seriously injured, police said. Police said the car broke into two and was crushed after flipping over early Monday, possibly after the driver lost control of his vehicle on the motorway near the town of Komotini, not far from the Turkish border. No other car was involved in the accident. The identity of the victims, or how they managed to cross the border from Turkey was not immediately known. Greece last year arrested some 132,000 undocumented migrants and secured the assistance of European border agency Frontex to hold back a surge of arrivals from Africa, Asia and the Indian subcontinent, mostly by sea.
