Khartoum - Abed Algayom Ashmeag
Al Obaid Fadl Almoula, Director of Sudan Airways, said that the deterioration of the company is due to the sanctions imposed by Washington on Sudan for years. Almoula said in statements that “These sanctions have negatively impacted on everything, from maintenance to spare parts,” explaining further that problems facing the airlines have to do with the fleet, as the company gets its spare parts from friends and companies, but has to pay much higher prices. He noted that “Sudan Air is back to the government, and we are now studying the idea of including a company that is more of an operator than an investor,” adding that all four company candidates are from the Middle East. The current fleet of Sudan Airways is limited to 6 airbuses, Boeings which are well over 15 years old.
