Beirut – George Shahin
A security report stated Wednesday evening that an unidentified citizen with his two children crossed from Lebanon into neighbouring Israel at noon and were immediately detained by Israeli troops. The incident took place at the Fatima Gate in southern Lebanon, facing the Israeli Metulla colony where they jumped over the wire border fence. They were then taken by an armoured car to a security centre in northern Palestine. Members of the Lebanese army and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) have initiated an investigation into the incident.
