Cairo – Akram Ali
Hundreds of demonstrators left Tahrir Square after the Isha’ prayer on Friday evening, following the rally of “Revolution Protection” in which a number of supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, the ruled out presidential candidate Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, and a number of parties participated. However, supporters of the excluded candidate Abu Ismail announced they would continue their sit-in for the eighth consecutive day and until the revolution's demands are fulfilled. These include handing over authority to civilians, dissolving the Supreme Presidential Elections Commission and amending the presidential elections law. A number of parties, coalitions and revolutionary movements such as the Free Front for Peaceful Change, Maspero Youth Union, Wafd and Tagammu parties, boycotted the demonstration, describing it as a rally for settling scores between the Islamic powers and the ruling junta.
