Sudan’s President Omar Bashir has appointed Al-Tijani Al-Sissi Mohamed Ateem as chairman of the Darfur Regional Authority. The nomination is in line with the Doha Darfur Peace Agreement which was signed by the government and the Justice and Equality Movement, which is headed by Sissi. A delegation from the Liberation and Justice Movement arrived in Khartoum earlier this month. It is expected that the political delegation headed by Sissi will arrive in Khartoum by the end of this month. Meanwhile, Bashir has appointed Major General Al Hadi Bushri as a caretaker Governor of the troubled Blue Nile State. Bushri has served as a governor of a number of states, as well as a Minister of Roads and Bridges. Sudanese political parties have supported Bushri’s appointment.
