A police source in the province of Karbala, southern Baghdad, said on Tuesday, that a Shi'ite cleric and his driver were killed with gun silencers, west of the province. The source told “Arabs today," Unidentified gunmen attacked on Tuesday evening  the cleric Sheikh Mohannad Gazan while he was in his way back from the shrine of Imam Hussein, where he had given speeches there,  to his home back in "  Saif Saad martyrs" neighborhood,  7 km west of the city . The source, who asked not to be named, said that the gunmen used gun silencers to shoot at the Sheikh and his driver, which led to their deaths. The source said the gunmen fled the scene to an unknown destination after the incident; security forces imposed a security cordon on the area, and carried out a inspection campaign in the neighboring areas.
