Egyptian Prime Minister, Essam Sharaf, went to Pope Shenouda III, leader of the Coptic Church, to offer his condolences for the victims of the Maspiro clashes. They discussed the implications of the crisis and the necessary steps that should be taken to resolve it. Sources in the church said in press statements that Sharaf listened to the church’s plan to contain the Coptic Christians anger which has been increased after the last event in Mary Nab church in Aswan. The sources pointed out that the Coptic Minister of Tourism, Mounir Fakhri Abdel Nour, also attended the meeting.
