Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Episcopate gave his usual weekly sermon on Wednesday evening, as a response to the rumour of his death, which widely spread on Tuesday and brought a state of anxiety in both official and popular circles. The Pope mocked the rumour in his lecture saying that he has now come from the “other world” because he missed his fans. Pope Shenouda said that he will miss next week’s lecture because of his pastoral trip to Hungary, followed by a therapeutic trip to the United States that will last for several days. The cathedral was attended by a huge amount of people to hear the lecture as a result of the rumour. The attendees chanted slogans expressing support and love for Pope Shenouda III wishing him a long life.
