Tunis – Nabil Zaghdoud
A Tunisian judicial announced the arrest of deposed President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s son in Rome by the Interpol. The source, which remained anonymous, said that “in response to an international arrest warrant issued by the Magistrate court in Tunisia, Moez Trabelsi was arrested in Rome on charges of corruption, which reaffrims the international community’s cooperation with Tunisia in fighting corruption.” The source confirmed that Tunisian authorities are currently preparing a delivery order for submission to the Italian authorities until he is given back to Tunisia to be put on trial. Tunisia had requested since the first days that followed the fall of the regime of Ben Ali on January 14th the international police’s assistance in the arrest of ousted President Ben Ali and his wife Leila Trabelsi and other members of the \"royal family\" who fled after popular protests witnessed from 17 December to January 14. The Transitional Government wants to trial Ben Ali and his family for the acquisition of property and the transfer of foreign currencies abroad.
