The head of the techincal committee responsible for the judicial review of elections in Egypt Yusri Abdul Kareem has confirmed that the committee has no intention of postponingthe date for Egypt's upcoming general elections, as some websites have claimed in the past 24 hours. Kareem added in a statement that the first stage of the parliamentary election will be held as planned on November 28th. He confirmed as well that no new candidates would now be allowed to submit their applications as the deadline to do so has now passed. The committee responsible to check the applicants' credentials have finished their work and the results are to be announced soon. Head of the election committee Abdul Moaez Ibrahim said in a press release published by MENA that the elction would be held in five phases, starting at the end of November and concluding in March 2012. He also said that Egyptians abroad were now registering via embassies, consulates, and the election committee's website.
