Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman on Tuesday criticised the comparison of the European Union Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton of the Jews killed in France yesterday with their counterparts in Gaza. Ashton said on the sidelines of a meeting of the Palestinian youth in Brussels “when we think about what happened in the French Toulouse, when we remember what happened in Norway a year ago, when we know what is happening in Syria, when we see what is happening in Gaza and in other parts of the world, We think of the children who were killed” Four Jews, including three children were killed yesterday by a shooting at a school compound for Jews in the French city Toulouse. A statement by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs mentioned that Ashton’s comparison was not appropriate, hoping that she would re-consider the statement. The statement claimed that Lieberman, who is currently visiting China confirms that “Israel is the country with the most morals in the world, although it has to fight the terrorists who are working among civilians and the army is doing their best to avoid harming the civilians who protect the terrorists.” He added “the children that Ashton spoke about are those of southern Israel who live in fear due to the continuous shooting in Gaza” Ashton also praised the young Palestinians who continue to learn, work, dream and aspire to a better future despite all the difficulties”.
