A tribe in eastern Libya has closed the border crossings with Egypt in the absence of border guards, the Associated Press reports. Residents in the border town of Misaid are frustrated with the rise in crime caused by rampant smuggling, a local told the news agency. According to Egyptian security experts the quantity of arms and drugs smuggled into Egypt from Libya has increased since the 2011 civil war there. The NTC said it is sending officials to the border to resolve the situation, which appears to be an example of the transitional government’s struggle to bring order to the unrest-torn nation.
